I thought I was having a good week, but I was wrong. Two days in a row (Tuesday an Wednesday) my son was sent to the principal's office. Tuesday, he hit his friend, JB. Wednesday, he hit the same friend and bit another one. This is a child who has never done anything like this. I am dying a little and I am trying to read and learn everything in a crash course in how to handle this situation. My instinct is to spank him, but I just don't feel like "hitting" is the solution for a child hitting. Ugh...I wish my head and my heart were on the same page on this one. Any suggestions?
That being said...he is the absolute sweetest child on the planet. He is extremely thoughtful and considerate. His ability to foresee the consequences to his actions is scary, quite frankly.
Just got the email from his teacher saying that he has had a great day today!! Whooo hooo...music to a worried mama's ears!

Benjamin has a large reception at the Chophouse tonight, so he will not be home. I told Dub if he had an outstanding day today (highest "grade" on their charts) that we would go get tacos for dinner and then go to The Carrot Store!!!
When I was little, my father would take my brother, my two sisters and me on walks and bike rides all the time. Since she stayed at home with us all day, I am pretty sure my mother made him get the four of us out of the house when he got home from work. There was a Baskin-Robbins about 4 blocks from our house and if we had had a great day, he would reward us with tiny cups of ice cream from BR. We thought we were being sneeky and would always tell my mother that Daddy took us to get some carrots at the carrot store (so healthy). For years, we thought she believed us too. And...the name has stuck. We still call ice cream and fro-yo shops "carrot stores."
Just a side note... When I was little and would have a bad dream or couldn't go to bed, my mother would still me to just start thinking about ice cream and, in my head, name all of the flavors I could think of. I still do this...I only get about 5 or 6 in before I fall asleep.
Roo standing on the PAINT RACK on the top of a ladder. Holy crap!!!! So, we run out the door to catch her before she falls. And what do we find hanging on the back wall...

I am making myself hungry writing about carrots! I so hope Dub has and OUTSTANDING day today!!
Yesterday, as I was making dinner (yummo spaghetti!), my mom glanced out the back door to the yard and hollered at me to grab my camera. This is what we saw from inside the house...

| get back over here, you rascal!! |
Boo and Elliott came over for dinner last night and as family story time goes...we got off on one subject. Last night it was spankings we had received when we were little. Ahhhh...good times!
Anyway...that's my day. I swear...it'll get better.
Questions for today...
What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Do you remember being spanked as a child? Do you spank your children now?
Where is the strangest place you have found your child?
