Man Up Weekend!! (well...for me, anyways)

Miles Today: 4.0
Miles This Year: 1458.5
Goal for the year: 1000 (so there...in your face!)

This was a BIG weekend for me!!
I am slightly obsessed with this chick.  She is an amazing runner and she is pretty funny!!  Ok, I want to be just like her when I grow up.  Earlier this year, she ran an incredible 160 miles in 9 days in 4 marathons and a Ragnar Ultra Relay!!  True inspiration (or just plain crazy!).  So, I pretended to be SkinnyRunner this weekend.

Saturday morning, I got up early and ran the Wallahatchie 10K, pushing the kids in the jogging stroller.  I was not fast, but that was not the point today.  I just needed to run!  The kids did a little better than normal for the amount of time (68:14) that they were in the stroller.
Run, Baby, Run!!  They were so worn out--needed LOTS of water...
It was a nice race--easy out and back on a country road.  Plenty of water and nice volunteers!  Doesn't get much better than that!

Then, after a very nice baby shower for my good friend, Mary Catherine, I changed clothes and drove to Roswell, Georgia, for the Alien Half Marathon and a PR!!!!!!

whoot whoot!!
This was a pretty course (while the sun was out).  Being a night race, I expected the darkness, but it was pitch black in some areas--and we were running trails and paved paths.  At times, you couldn't tell where the edge of the paths were and it got a little scary!  There should have been a little more lighting in the darker areas.  And there definitely should have been MORE WATER!!!  It's. August. in. Georgia. People!!  There was not enough water at ANY of the water stations.  Did they not know how many paople had signed up?  Did they not realize is was August in the South?  I don't know - but they should be ashamed of that aspect of the race.

The after-party looked like fun, but I was 2 and a half hours from home, it was late, and I was tired!!  I had a long day!  And...then, it poured on me driving home for at least an hour.  ugh.  I even had to wake Benny up to tell him I was home (no--no after party for me).

I guess my prize was church on Sunday morning.  Benjo actually went with me!  Looking sharp!  I love it when he goes to church with me.

Lunch at Pop Pop and Mimi's house was delicious (as usual).  And, instead of nap time today, Bens and I took Dub to the Buckmasters Show downtown.  I was not that interested, but we knew Dub would love all of that stuff.  There were plenty of 4-wheelers to climb on...
 and tractors too...

and bears to see....

and, of course, there were plenty of guns to check out...

Something strange about a small boy (in a smocked outfit, no less) checking out shotguns and rifles.  Can you say REDNECK?!?!?!

Anyway--after the gun show, we all went back to Mimi's and the kids stayed there to swim and spend the night.  I were over to my parents to have dinner with some old friends!

...and some new friends, too!!
Grace (blue dress) and Mary (white shirt) were my parents' first "grandchildren."  Now, in addition to my two kids, they can add #5 Daniel and #6 Joshua to that list!!
I'll tell you about those two sweet little girls tomorrow!

Anyway...that's my day.  I swear...it'll get better.
